FriendFeed

Taking in to account some of the suggestions from Thomas Hawk's recent post I have joined FriendFeed so if you're a member then please feel free to subscribe to my feed and if you're not then why not join up. My profile can be seen HERE

You may have also noticed that I've changed my blog template back to the classic black one that I used in the past but adjusted the width so that Flickr photos can be posted in medium size without going off the screen. This will also allow me to post larger (non-Flickr) photos which I think will improve the blog.

Any comments or suggestions then please let me know.

More Gardening

Here are a few more shots recording the progress of my front garden make over the other week. I'm sure that Alan Titchmarsh and the Groundforce crew would have been impressed!!

Unfortunately I didn't have the foresight to take a quick shot before the work commenced so the first photo is actually after a foot or so of soil, some shrubs and weeds had already been cleared.

Step 1 - Ground cleared, leveled and time to come up with some design ideas!

Step 2 - Anti-weed membrane put down and leftover slabs from the back garden laid to

Step 3 - Rest of soil covered in anti-weed membrane (carefully cut round shrubs etc), then a layer of low maintenance bark laid.

Step 4 - Focal point finished off with a Cordyline (picked up from a local garden centre) and some other new shrubs planted around the edge of the garden (which can't be seen in the photo!).

Top Flickr Photos

Been getting in to reading a number of Blogs recently and noticed a post over at Thomas Hawk's Digital Connection titled Top 10 Tips for Getting Attention on Flickr, All Fresh and New for 2008.

I found this post very interesting as I'm not getting many views/comments/favs on new posts to Flickr these days although I put a lot of that down to the fact that I'm not as active on the site as I used to be. I do still need to go through the site and clear out the dead wood and start posting some newer and better shots.

Started looking at my most "interesting" Flickr photos and it's fairly surprising, especially the #1 shot.

Here are my top 10 most interesting Flickr photos...

A Day at The Races

After some serious digging on my first week off work last week saw some less strenuous activities including a day out at the races with friends.

Luckily my system seemed to work well as I picked 3 winners and 1 second place out of the 6 races. When I say "system" what I mean is that I liked the horses name or where they came from. Lets just say I was lucky!

Here's the end of the first race of the day and the first winner for yours truly.

Here are the winnings for the day....just check out those 50's!!!

Before / After - Part 3

Currently having a few weeks off work and spent a portion of last week working on the front garden to create a more low maintenance area.

This involved clearing a skip worth of top soil (dumped on the front when I did the back garden), removing all the unwanted plants / bushes then doing a bit of landscaping.

Here's how it turned out.

Bye Bye Mr Fly

After seeing this post over at novemberfive.co.uk, I was reminded of a picture that I took the other day.

The spider is going in for the kill. Unfortunately there was so much debris in the web that this didn't turn out as well as it could have. With the naked eye, you could actually see the fangs sinking in to the fly!

Give Me a Ring

Playing around with with some hard drive platter spacers. Didn't think it turned out too badly for a quick snap with the camera phone although did do a little post processing.
