Received an e-mail a few weeks ago from www.schmap.com to say that one of my old photos on Flickr had been shortlisted for their new London Guide. I allowed them to use it and the received an e-mail over the weekend to say that the guide (including my picture) has now been published online.
Here is the picture that they used.

Bloody Weather!
The walk to work at around 6am this morning wasn't very nice at all. I had a big golfing umbrella but was still getting soaked as the wind was so strong that the rain was near vertical!
I managed to just about reach my work's building when a strong gust of wind totally destroyed my umbrella :-(

Torch that Sofa!
For Christmas, one of the presents I received was a xenon torch - something to keep in the car in case of emergency on these long winter nights.
I had a thought about using the torch with long exposure shots to get different effects. I haven't done many yet but here is a sample taken in my front room.
8 second exposure with torch positioned off centre.
2 second exposure with torch waving around to create a slightly smoky looking image.
I plan to adapt the torch to focus the light through a central point to create a smaller beam that can be used to highlight some objects.
